Alastair is a chartered accountant CA(SA). Alastair completed his articles at Ernst & Young Johannesburg in 2021.

His core audit focus was on the private equity and leveraged finance books of a large South African bank. Other key audit areas included engagements with multinationals in the technology and infrastructure sectors. Alastair then joined Makosi and was seconded to a Canadian audit firm for the 2022 audit of a large public US company regulated by the SEC.

Alastair attended the University of Cape Town, where he completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting at UCT and undergraduate in B. Bus Sci Finance with Accounting and was a member of The Golden Key Society and Dean's Merit List.

Alastair matriculated from Bishops (Diocesan College) and was awarded full leadership colours. Alastair is a keen sportsman and outdoor enthusiast, playing competitive sports throughout school and university as well as spending a year in the UK as a student teacher.
